One day in Paris, the next in New York

Three years of studies at Business Academy Aarhus have given Oliwia Sadlo from Poland several international experiences and helped her fulfil her dreams.

Oliwia Sadlo changes her address every half year on average. While studying at Business Academy Aarhus, the 23-year old Polish student has been an intern in New York twice and spent half a year studying in Paris.
‘Opportunities are all around,’ says Oliwia.

Semester in Paris
Oliwia has always dreamt of going to Paris so when she noticed a note on the Academy’s website about an Erasmus exchange grant in Paris, she applied and was accepted as a student at ISC Paris Business School. For a whole semester she followed courses in English in finance, economics, branding, retail management and marketing.
‘Paris was so romantic and so authentic. It was also very busy. Everybody was running.’

Babysitting and sightseeing
Oliwia shared a flat with two other girls in a flat on the 17th arrondissement five minutes from the school. To afford the rent Oliwia worked part time as a babysitter.
When Oliwia was not studying or working she went for picnics at the Eifel Tower, to the cinema, to parties and visited museums and art galleries.

‘I got many new friends and met people from all over the world. Being in Paris made me more adult, because I was completely on my own and had to find out everything myself. I learned a lot and was forced to speak French.’

From Paris to New York
After finishing her semester in Paris, Oliwia went directly to New York, also as a part of her AP-programme, to work as an intern in a cosmetic company in Manhattan.
‘Coming to New York was like ‘WOW’. These skyscrapers are skyscrapers for real! It was like a dream come true.’
Thrilling, wonderful and exciting are words used by Oliwia when she describes her six months as a business developer intern at the Manhattan-company Noya Cosmetics.
‘My internship was the greatest adventure. A year ago I figured that I would go to a small city in the United States and do my internship in a random company. Instead of that I ended up in the heart of Manhattan working for a cosmetic’s company - the most perfect match ever,’ Oliwia recalls.
‘My job was amazing. I was challenged every day. The tasks I worked with were demanding and sometimes difficult, but I did my very best to deliver the quality that my boss expected from me.’

Incurable globetrotter
Oliwia is back in Aarhus to finish her Bachelor’s degree in International Sales and Marketing Management. But only for a while. As part of her top up BA-programme she will once again go to New York as an intern. Her mother in Poland thinks it is too much travelling. But Oliwia can’t help it.

‘I admit that I am an incurable globetrotter. I just love travelling and seeing new things. I love to see how people are, how they eat, what their traditions are and how they behave.’
Oliwia is very grateful for the possibilities given to her by Business Academy Aarhus.
‘These past four years have been the most challenging, but at the same time best years of my life. The academy helped me achieve some of my goals and for me it has opened so many doors.’
Oliwia recommends her fellow student to grab the opportunities and spend time abroad during their educational programme. There are plenty of opportunities to go abroad on summer school, in an internship or for a whole semester.
‘Your dreams can come true if you go for it - with hard work and passion,’ she says before rushing off to work.
